The International Semiconductor Lighting Alliance (ISA) organized the ” global semiconductor lighting applications Cities Symposium” in Frankfurt on April 2, 2014 ,, Germany , Dr. Raj . Manda from the Indian Electronic Light source & Component Manufacturers Association (ELCOMA) introduced the industry development of Indian semiconductor  lighting and energy efficiency activities in India , while Mr. Taniyama Agger ， the Chairman of Illuminating Society of India Engineering (ISLE), president of India TRILUX , executive director of ISA . described the development of semiconductor lighting industry in India on the meeting .

Dr. Raj . Manda said the power shortage in India in 2011-2012 was 8.2 %, the production of incandescent in India in 2013 was 780 million, up 3% , the fluorescent was 268 million , a growth rate was 34% (the growth in T8 tube including LED tube light accounted for 67 % ) ; compact fluorescent was 473 million , an increase was 16%. There are 600 cities in the United States to prepare or have installed LED road lights including LED street light and LED tunnel light by the end of 2013, of which New York City will replace 250,000 LED street light and LED tunnel light before 2017 , which can save electricity and maintenance costs at $ 14 million a year , six years is expected to recover.
